Large Waves

One day my boyfriend and I were down at the beach. H e brought his surf board to go surfing. He went out a couple of times and was really enjoying himself. Half way into our day he came back in for a rest and to get warm.

When he was ready to head out again he asked me if I wanted to come join him. I had been watching him while he was out surfing and it is something I have always wanted to do. Unfortunately one of my biggest fears is large waves.

I hesitated for a couple of minutes than excepted his invitation. He told me all I would need to do was to swim past the Large waves where it was calm and peaceful. All I had to do was get past the LArge waves. I was terrified. All I could think of was once I got past the LARge waves how was I going to get back into shore. I would have to swim back in through the LARGe waves.

After much contemplation I made my way into the water. I indeed swam past the LARGE waves. Once we were past the LARGE waves I jumped onto my boyfriend’s board and there I sat in the beautiful Coronado ocean with the love of my life. As he embraced me he gave me the most amazing kiss.

And while he was kissing me all I could think about was the LARGE waves that I was going to have to swim through to make my way back to shore. The whole time I was out in the magnificent ocean on a surf board for the first time, all I could think about was the LARGE waves.

My boyfriend could tell I wasn’t enjoying myself and he suggested we headed back in. I wanted so badly to get back to the safe shore and I was so terrified of how I was going to do it. Instead of enjoying the magnificence of the ocean and the beauty of my beautiful boyfriend I chose to focus on fear and the unknown. Instead of being in the NOW and truly focusing on the moment, I was dreading what had not happened yet in my life.

Instead of truly enjoying the moment I was focusing on the LARGE waves I needed to swim through to get to the other side.

So I jumped off the surfboard turned around and started swimming to the shore (SAFETY) my boyfriend called out to me and said catch the next wave, Of course I heard him say LARGE wave. He reassured me it would bring me back to shore.

I turned around and caught the next large wave. And to my absolute surprise that large wave gently scooped me up at carried me all the way to shore. I experienced the ride of a life time. The large wave wasn’t so large after all. In fact the fear of the large wave was what was so LARGE.

I spent the whole time I was out in the beautiful water fearing something that in deed NEVER happened.

How often do we do that? How often do dread something that never happens. Wouldn’t life be so much more amazing if we stopped looking into our future and truly embraced life and live in the NOW.

My message for you today my friends is Live in the NOW, it’s a lot of FUN here…
